    How exactly does intelligence work?

I know JPS's definition of how the INT stat works, but it doesn't really help much. I've fooled around with it for a while and I think that it might work something like this:

    Intelligence Stat: set at 20.
    A.I. set to Physical First.

In doing that, it seems as though my monster attacks with physical attacks 20% of the time with the rest being random action. It may not be exactly 20% but it seems to be the general idea anyways.

Likewise if intelligence were to be set at 100%, the monster attacks with physical attacks almost every time. Please tell me if I'm right on this one, thanks.

P.S.: I really wish you could set certain actions to be used only when certain conditions are met. Say, Hp<40%=monster uses so-and-so magic spell. THAT would make battles 1,000 times more interesting (and it would make for some dramatic battles).

    Your assumption is correct.

Actually your not entirely accurate. What im saying is that your characters have INT to so maybe its not exactly that.

I think your assumption is entirely correct, Ivan. And I agree--it would be great to be able to script actions. You can do that in 2, but it's not real easy.

You can have computers run your character, I believe, thus explaining the existance of INT.
If so, I'll need to leave it out for game balance.

            Not in RPGM3 you can't.

I think he's refering to character battles.

So far all I really know is that with Int set to 100 the enemy ruthlessly attacks the weakest character in the party.

I think the Int stat was meant to be a measure of the percentage chance that a certain enemy would perform the tactically correct action instead of any other random action.

That's probably the only way to know for sure.

I think you're right. I think that whatever you set for the character's action (majic first/only magic/only physical etc) will be carried out according to your INT. Therefore, if you set an enemy to 'always magic', and then set their INT to 100, then that enemy will cast magic 100% of the time. If you set it to 50, then the enemy will use magic about half the time.

[EDIT] In other words...I also think Ivan was right.

What about things like Physical First? If INT is at 50 then will the enemy use a magical healing spell 50% of the time (providing its available)???
