    Attention Nerds!

I'm working on a little game and I need help. In essence it’s sort of a card game/DnD mix I want to make for the pavilion. It isn't for any RPGM nor is it a video game, so that is why this is in the imaginari. The concept is simple enough. You choose your race and class then go off conquering dungeons with a squad of 5. Attacks are done by cards which are either bought in towns or found in dungeons. Each player can hold up to 50 cards in storage, but can only bring 10 with them to dungeons. Anyways, I'm currently in the stage of gathering ideas. Making rules, classes, etc. I was hoping that I could get some help with this. So far this is what I've come up with:

    Basics

ATK (attack)= The base for which damage is done.

TS (turn speed)= Is what determines the order of who attacks. The highest number goes first.

STA (stamina)= Your health is determined by STA x5.

DEF (defense)= Takes damage off from opponent's attacks.

AIM= When doing an attack there is a risk of missing. The higher the opponent's AIM the higher the chance of missing. But the opposite is for having a higher AIM. By chance an opponent's AIM is the same as yours, there is a 100% chance of connecting with an attack. Unfortunately, that goes both ways.

Race Cards= Cards only usable by certain races.

Boost Cards= Cards that boost or lower stats. Can not override Special Skills.

Terra= Elemental power of earth. Usually have some boosting effects.
Pyro= Elemental power of fire. Weakens defenses.
Zeus= Elemental power of lightning. Stuns enemies.
Aqua= Elemental power of water. Sustains health.
Divine= Elemental power of light. Increases STA.
    Demonic= Elemental power of darkness.

    Races

    Dreem

    ATK: 4
    TS: 5
    STA: 3
    DEF: 3
    AIM: 2
Special Skills: Immune to Terra attacks. Attack damage is based on ATK + TS divided by 2, rounded up.
Info: A winged race which were referred to as angels in the past. Their very source of strength comes from the planet itself. Their numbers have decreased largely over the years thanks to fearful humans. They reside in the city, Stara Don.... the last existing city of their once proud nation.

    Wingless

    ATK: 5
    TS: 3
    STA: 3
    DEF: 4
    AIM: 2
Special Skills: Demonic attacks gain 1/2 health from damage done to opponent. Can use Dreem Race Cards.
Info: The Wingless are actually members of the same race as the Dreems. Though, the name suggests that they lack wings, there are those of them with. What sets them apart from the Dreems is a terrible birth defect. Their bodies can not regenerate properly thanks to what the Dreems call "Impure Blood." In order to get what they need, they consume from others. Anyone with this birth defect are banished or killed, according to Dreem law.

    Human

    ATK: 3
    TS: 4
    STA: 3
    DEF: 2
    AIM: 5
Special Skills: AIM can not be lowered by opponent. When equipped with gun, attack damage is based on AIM.
Info: Don't really need to explain them.

    Narog

    ATK: 3
    TS: 2
    STA: 4
    DEF: 5
    AIM: 3
Special Skills: ATK gains +1 for every 2 AIM stats. 1 DEF stat is lowered every time ATK is gained.
Info: Humanoid beings that evolved from dragons. They have the most advanced technology in the world.

    Wraith

    ATK: 0
    TS: 3
    STA: 10
    DEF: 0
    AIM: 4
Special Skills: ATK is based on TS. TS can not be increased nor decreased.
Info: Entities that were once believed to be ghosts.

That is about it so far. I mainly need help coming up with classes, but any other suggestions are welcome.

Wow, this is an interesting idea! Two of my friends have a battle card game that they created which is almost similar to what you've got, but it's not as technical--just simple dice rolling.

If I can help you with races, you can make a strength-based Earth race. Like the Galkas of FFXI and the Tauren of WoW. That's pretty much all I can provide since you already beat me to a few ideas that I was going to share

Anyway good luck with it. And if you can, show us pics.

Maybe define how a turn works more specifically, along with the attributes. What if their speed is the same, who goes first. Do you roll for it? What kind of dice are you using? Etc...
I've done way too many card games like this than I can ever count. My foreign exchange bro and I always play this FFIX one I made with a few hundred cards. It's a lot of fun. I copied like all the spells and weapons and skills straight from the strategy guide. I have a zelda card game where they actually battle on a grid and can move around levels that you link together. I have my mario card game which is easier than crap and is pretty much luck based. I also have a pokémon one from waaay back when it frist came out. I got a few hundred of those card of that along with a DBZ series I have with about 80 character cards. However my experience with the dungeon to dungeon type adventure card games isn't all that great but I have some good ideas and know how to balance games out pretty well.
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

I'm still trying to figure that out, along with how the AIM works. It is still in the planning stages. That's why I came here for help.

Hey, Jamos. Got 20 bucks to spare?
This might be a good investment.

I'm kind of low on cash at the moment, but I will definitely get this once I have the money. That should make things go smoother.

Yeah. One piece of advice: with your stats, you're making it more of a video game then a card game. Attack and Def is all you need, if people have to calculate HP, roll for turn order, and such, you're making a board game that uses cards. Just saying.
Although, I'm brewing up a card game/board game hybrid, and if you want to use that as a springboard, just let me know.

                      Re: Attention Nerds!

I, being a long time card game enthusist have worked on a few custom card games.

                      Card Minions

Kirby Kard Koalition (A MS Paint Card game)

                      Solo Stern (Tentative name)

I have knowlege of many obscure card games that never took off. Things like Magi Nation and Illuminati:New world order.

When creating a card game you have two options.

1.Trying to Forge a totally new system.

                      2.Modifiying a exsisting game.
Use it as ground work only.

Both of these options are dependant on your Power to think.

The game I've been working on (Solo Stern) Is made up of 50 cards. Both players do not have a individual deck, its one deck. But, Thats all i am divulging as of now.

                        Re: Attention Nerds!

One thing I have to say is your card names should have some variation. I know those are probably just examples, but two Eye Beam cards that have different effects is just a little confusing. I understand if you have multiples of cards with slightly different effects, but those really confuse me. Same picture, same name, different effects.

As for suggestions on race, what about a hive minded race in the vein of Slivers from Magic the Gathering. Perhaps a bestial race which relies on personal strength and are technologically inept.

That's all I got for now as I'm just starting to get to work, but it looks like it could be good!

Don't worry, I don't plan on making more doubles.
I have also made some changes do to some of Hito's suggestions. TS and AIM are no longer existent. Dice can be used to determine those.

                          Oh, some more cards.

Have you been giving thought to balance? Just asking.
Anyway, I think I'll post Hellion War (my board game-card game thing) in here one of these days.

I think it all started with pokémon

I did have them all...then they made more

Then I moved on to something cooler right?

DBZ was fun I guess. But you gotta have a few hundred Final Fantasy Cards right...

                              and megaman...

                              Okay..zelda was needed too.

This isn't the end. Just only what I dug up off the moment. I also have a bunch in computer format now too. A mario game, and a zelda game, and another final fantasy one...
