    Poster Quality

Not sure if this is possible, but...

What if we changed the rep system to include the number of posts a person makes vs the amount of reputation they got? This way, it's not just based on how many reputation points you get, but how many points you get per post.

So someone who has a lot of points and very little posts would shine like gold, and someone who had an equal amount of points but a lot of posts would seem average.

This way, everyone is focused on quality over quantity even more so.
    ...and that's why.

            Re: Poster Quality

Can't you just look at the amount of posts a user posted and compare that to the rep? Sure, it's not automated, but it works just fine.

              We're lazy.

That'd be a cool idea, though.

                  That's not necessarily true though.

Someone can only rep me once a day. Maybe I make multiple good posts one day, but the people that wanted to rep me all rep an earlier post that day. My other posts go un-repped.

Doesn't mean I'm not as high quality as another poster, or another poster is lesser than me.

                    Re: Poster Quality

I don't think it really all that necessary. For the most part high rep and high post count go hand in hand. And by the time either is a significant amount theirs a general idea about what kind of poster a person is. Besides which going into posting with the idea to get rep shouldn't be the point. I just use rep to say hey man nice post. I've given rep for posts to people I don't like and there are people I do like who I don't give rep to.

Personally I don't even like the idea. Some posts, namely ordinary discussion, simply aren't likely to get reputation points, good or bad. I don't like the idea of having people be penalized in their "reputation ratio" for posting.

MAYBE YOU CAN DIVIDE THE REPUTATION BY THE THING THAT SAYS "POSTS: # of posts" RIGHT ON TOP OF IT IN YOUR HEAD WITHOUT MAKING EXTRA WORK
