    FOR THE GREATER GOOD!

Goddamn, Dawn of War has to be the most epic and awsome RTS Ive ever played. Ive been playing the Dark Crusade expansion, and the 2 new armies it adds friggin rule.

The Necrons, walking metal skeletons, containing the souls of a long dead civilization from billions of years ago, that were awoken during exploration of new planets. They hate everything thats alive, and once everything is dead, they can go back to sleep. Their base can be upgraded into the MONOLITH, with is a hovering pyramid of death that can fire tons of lasers and a gigantic explosive beam from the huge crystal on top.

The Tau. Only race in 40k to be happy, and nice. They venture out to other races and ask them to join their big universal group so everyone can co-exist in peace. "For the greater good" Problem is the humans go "KILL THE HERETIC, PURGE THE UNCLEAN, BURN THE ALIEN, ALL GLORY TO THE EMPEROR!!", and most other races have the same reaction. "OMG they want peace? It must be a trap! Kill them all!" They specialize in long range combat, but they do have some good up close units. They have lots of big mechs to use, and their commander unit looks alot like that cyborg dude from Appleseed. I cant remember his name.

I love being able to customize your colors for your army too, like what I did with thoe guys I posted. Plus alot of the voices in the game are done by DBZ and Beast Wars guys. Hearing Dinobots snarling and yelling "DEATH TO ALL WHO OPPOSE US!", before sending 10 guys frlying through the air is pretty cool.

I have a friend who is an absolute Warhammer fanatic. I'll tell him about this--there's no doubt he'd be interested.

I'm interested in this, since Garr told me it was basically the heir to Starcraft.

        How are the races balanced?

anytime I see warhammer geeks going hardcore into it, all I can think is "what a waste of life and money."

I know it's probably not right of me to think so, but that's how I think anyway.

Same could be said of videogames though Kire.

Could be said about anything besides ****ing, making money, or saving lives.

Saving lives is the biggest waste of a life I can think of.

I like this RTS warhammer game, but If I was to start playing the board game Id be ****ing poor. 1 squad of miniture units will run you around $30-$50. 1 Dreadnaught(big walking mech) is about $50+. Freaking ridiculous.

Still though, the way they setup the warhammer 40 story is awsome. You can go read for hours on Wikipedia on the history of all the races. Insane. they sned out new campaigns thorugh the internet, and through comic shops, etc. These have maps, races involved etc. Then they hold official tournaments at places and send the results of all the winners in. Then they use those results to write the story.

Heres the trailer for the original.

You can slo get 2 demos from the official website.

I bought a pack of Chaos Marines once, they were fun to paint. I only have one left nowadays. :-(

Here he is fighting valiantly against some unpainted skaven:

I'm pretty sure I'm gunna pick up the expansion, I THINK CACISS WILL AS WELL. THEN I WILL DRINK HIS BLOOD. Really though, it's an A+ game and definitely one of the better RTS games around.

                          Re: FOR THE GREATER GOOD!

I've been playing Dawn of War a lot recently. It's unbelievably fun - when I first played it, I thought it was like Starcraft, but BETTER.

Also, the Tau are not a "Good" race. They're anime space communists who expand their empire through brainwashing, eugenics, and mind control. I wouldn't be suprised if they control outgoing infromation like the USSR to make themselves look even better. A lot of the fluff around them makes them seem goody-goody, but that's due to their newness and the fact that most fluff is written from the Imperium's perspective, and they don't care in the least about the Tau. If there's any "good" race, it's the Orks. They just want what's best for everyone, and that's some good fightin'!

Yeah, they do have their dark side. Who knows what secret plans the Ethereals who control everything actually have planned.
