    Final Fantasy VI Advance

Well I'm starting over cause I missed some beastiary stuff so I figured I'd make this topic to post my thoughts on it from the beginning.

I have mixed feelings on the new music. Some stuff is okay while other stuff is noticably remixed. In general the new sound effects are horrid. It's not that their different just of a much worse quality.

The new translation is wonderful though. A few times it actually makes things clearer instead of just being asthetic. They did remove Celes being beaten by the soldiers in South Figaro.

There is one thing I'm not sure how I should feel about. They left Siegfried instead of making him Gilgamesh. On the one hand I think it's kinda like leaving in spoony barb or son of a submariner but on the other he's obviously supposed to be Gilgamesh so why not go ahead and make the change.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I'm interested in this. I've always wanted to play Final Fantasy VI on the go. The storyline is awesome, and the ending music made me cry (in a good way) I hope the GBA version didn't butcher it or anything.....

What? Nintendo's got to be way over its censorship crusade by now. Why'd they do something like that?

Silly Misty DS is for kids. I'm willing to the cliff scene doesn't even happen. Or they do something stupid like, "Oh my god I slipped and now I'm falling."

Apparently some people read the South Figaro beating as a rape of Celes...

          Go fig.

Yeah I was checking out gamefaqs' messege board and they were all talking about a rape scene and I was all what the ****.

It's just strange that the Super NES game left that scene alone, and Nintendo had no qualms about it, considering the fact that they were censoring a lot of games back in the day.

Well, despite that, I'm still going to pick it up

That's a faiiiirly important scene though.

How does Locke meet her then?!

He punches her with his mind and she collapses.

a rape scene? you have got to be kidding me. you have to twist those events prety hard to make it into a rape scene. i hate it when they go over old clasics and butcher the hell out of them. just leave them be. their is a reason it was such a monumentus hit.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

                      Re: Final Fantasy VI Advance

The scene was censored on the GBA version because of some touchy kidnappings that happened in japan. Almost everything about the scene is the same, except that the guard doesn't punch Celes and she is laying on the ground instead of bound by her hands when Locke rescues her.

No other scenes have been censored and because of the new translation some parts are racier than the orginal.

The thing most people are up in arms about is that "son of a submeriner" is gone and Edgar says "he'd kill his best friend is the price was right" rather than "he'd slit his momma's throat for a nickle" when refering to Shadow.

Regardless of how you feel about these lines the new translation is still really good (though all the baddies have new names so it's a little confusing using rages). They retranslated the opera and the lyrics actualy fit the melody now. Also, while the music quality isn't as high as the SNES version (blame the GBA hardware) the opera sounds GREAT.

It is like people thinking that Ashely gets rape in Resident Evil 4 with that one shot of her in that room.

I think it is people's sick desires to see the worst done to people given the fewest details from a quick scene.

Edit: Here is a question. If the sound quality is not as good, then why didn't they put it into DS format?

It would have been a lot easier if Final Fantasy VI advance were given the Teen rating. Then nothing would have been compromised.

Well, I'm hoping that they made Kefka even more evil than he was in the SNES version. Even after all these years, I STILL hate him. I mean, what a ****ing bastard.

Oh, and the "he'd slit his momma's throat for a nickel" is PRICELESS
