    Airline/Airplane Stories

I recently took a trip to New York by plane, and on the way up I had to change planes in Washington.

We all got on the plane...a small one (one seat - aisle - two seats) and waited, and waited. The stewardess came around with water and pretzels as we sat there on the tarmac.

After about half an hour, an announcement was made that they were searching for the pilot of our plane, but was nowhere to be found. We were told that we would receive an update in a few minutes.

Later, an announcement was made that our lavatory was out of order because the toilet was stopped up.

Then after a few more minutes, the stewardess announced that there was good news...Her words were something to the effect of "We don't have a bathroom, but we do have a pilot." I guess that was supposed to be a way to break the tension. Her joke didn't go over very well. Apparently a substitute pilot had been found to fly us to New York. We were one and a half hours late.

Upon arriving in New York, the passenger in front of me asked the stewardess if the original pilot had been found. She said that they hadn't heard anything from him yet. Great.

So, any airplane memories you have?

This one time I got on an airplane, that wasn't hijacked by terrorists, didn't crash into another plane, and I didn't join the mile high club.

    Total bull ****.

Oh, I didn't get peanuts either.

Okay there were these snakes and they were on this plane. Some black man was keeping shouting about them, then I died.

I honestly don't have any interesting stories about planes.

Before 9/11, I use to always bring on a 750 bottle of tequila. I'd quickly ask the stewardess for a can of OJ and a cup of ice. I'd mix, drink, mix, drink and then pass out usually just after the plane took off. Then I'd wake up on the other end and go through customs/immigration pretty buzzing (these flights were from california to ontario). It was great flying that way. They were all night flights and I slept through the whole thing. Now, with this whole no-liquid (read-tequila) thing, I am too frightened to fly.

On my most recent visit to Yankeeland, our plane hit some really rough turbulence during a winter storm. The person I sat next to kept trying to make small talk. I was thinking about how I could use him as a cushion to sustain myself during the inevitable impact. Instead we survived, but I still wanted to punch him. The end.

Nothings ever happened to me, but I hate flying. I'm not going to fly again until the Department of Transportation lets Virgin America fly so I can play Doom on the plane.

your pilot was probaly the one stuffed in the lavitory toilet.

my flying has been uneventful, no real turbulence, nothing uncomong or unususal except i had one pilot who liked to drop the plane 5k feet at a time then climb up, best rollercoster ride ever. the people becide me didnt think the same

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

On a trip with my father to Brazil, I had to sleep between him and a drunk Italian guy.

Ended up with a sore neck, back, and attitude sickness.

I recently discovered that I had been carrying a pocket knife in my knapsack for the past year or so. It was hidden deep down in one of its many pockets.
That means I've gone through security with it at least 8 times without ever raising an alarm.

So much for heightened airport security.

In your typical airplane impact, such a cushion wouldn't matter. You'd both be pudding approxamately 1/100th of a second after impact.

When I took a plane to Okinawa with a tea ceremony master, her student's daughter and my friend, I was the only one who got searched.

How nice things would be if the airline industry didn't have a role in stalling the development of high speed electric rail systems. Cheaper, about as fast, more comfortable, and need no oil for fuel. Instead, this bloated industry can't stay afloat without sucking government handouts, courtesy of the taxpayer. Airlines aren't getting as sales because many people are upset about the violation of their liberties. The market should be free so this industry can either evolve to recognize your constitutional rights and allow competition to form from other sources, or it should be allowed to die outright.

I will never ride a commercial airliner until this war on terror(aka war on the American people) is ended.

Two professors I know are on no-fly lists, and they are denied a reason why.
