    Want to change someone's life?

    http://www.kiva.org/

I love the idea of this, next paycheck I get I think I'll be putting $200 or so towards helping someone out on there.

Wow, that is pretty cool. I'm going to get into a bit more of a comfort zone and then I'll consider it.

How do you know they'll repay you, or that the people asking for loans are legitimate?

I'd consider this if there was an option to help people in the US.

I don't know, that's why I don't care about the paying back part.

Every part of that website sounds fraudulent, I mean why would you, someone who's working your butt off to make a semi-decent living, give to someone who may one day make millions and not give you a cent back??

Thats like buying someone a lottery ticket as a gift then them winning $30 million, next thing you know they're gone and you're out of a dollar

If I give anyone $200 to get their business started, it'll be me Call me cold hearted, but I don't see a point in something like this, the point of opening a business is to make money, not to accept handouts til you get on your feet...thats why you get a JOB before you start off your business, so you'll have the funds...

              EDIT TO ADD:
I won a most ignorant post award for this post

Considering i'm a extremly poor college student who is in debt up to his eyeballs. I find the notion rather ridiculus to give ANYONE money. Maybe when i'm a ADULT with a decent paying job would i even consider this. I'd like to make myself financially stable first.

Maybe if I made a bunch of interest back from the loan I'ld consider..otherwise no.
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

I'm seeing nothing about interest return, so it's basically a charity where you MIGHT get the donation back (They do say in the FAQ that repayment is NOT guaranteed). Also, even if the loan isn't repaid it can't be written off your taxes as a charitable donation.

I'd say give it some time and do some research before making a loan.

Would this stuff even be like tax-deductable or anything?

Yes you can write it off on your taxes as a charity donation. This isn't really about making an investment, this is helping someone out who needs help and can't get it.
