This is actually quite interesting. According to some articles I've been reading (sorry, no links), Sony has actually REFUSED to lend the Blu-Ray format to pornography. On top of this, I've read other stories that say small studios are leaning toward HD-DVD because it's cheaper to manufacture the discs anyway.

VHS and DVD were adopted by porn and that decided the format war. Will it be the same this time around? It will be interesting to see...but personally, I think big titles & franchises will decide who wins (the Lord of the Rings & Matrix trilogies have been announced for HD-DVD and not Blu-Ray).

Well apparently, porn accounts for 17.47% of all DVD sales. It surprises me more people just don't get theirs for free from the internets.

That's interesting. Is Warner one of the studios that's doing both formats then? Lord of the Rings is New Line, and I'm not sure where they stand. Still, it will be interesting to see when if the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Matrix's are simultaneous or not.

With the players being made that will play Blu-Ray and HD-DVD and the disc that I forget who is developing that will work in either Blu-ray or HD-DVD players the whole thing seems pointless. Then again I never found out what the point was to upgrade from DVD in the first place.

WB is actually making its own disc format: Total HD. It'll be playable on either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players.
