    local fighting game tournament!

oh yes. and i will be there.

i dont know if anybody lives in or around the indianapolis area, but there's going to be a fighting game tournament at the circle centre mall (gameworks arcade), downtown on Jan. 20. i would like to invite anyone interested to go, or if you know anyone who lives in the area and would be interested, let them know too. depending on the turnout, it could be really great.

so far, i think they're gonna set it up with Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike... and Tekken 5 or something. i'm so hyped about finally getting a chance to play 3rd Strike, i can't think straight!!! i can't wait!

I'd go, but if Garr goes then I'd end up ripping him apart like I do in all the other fighting games and StarCraft, and I'd hate for him to waste his money flying there only to be eliminated first round.

Actually, I wish they'd hold some tournaments here where I'm at. I honestly don't think I'd stand a chance in hell at ANY game, because I believe that there's always someone a lot better than you who will find you and beat you to the ground when you think you're on top.
    Keep the change.

at least for me, in the case of 3rd Strike, i've played, practiced and practiced some more. i'm pretty well adjusted to the mechanics of it all. i have total confidence that i'll be able to win more than a few matches.

I have a small group of friends, who I completely pulverize on a regular basis because they just... don't really get into it that much. I went to another friend's house for a LAN party (never been there) with a bunch of guys... and kept coming in 2nd, to this one Halo 2 guy. My friends completely stopped playing Halo 2 with me because I ripped them apart... but this guy was a beast I couldn't take down.

There's always someone out there who's better... and according to Murphy's Law... you'll meet them when something is on the line (Video game tournament).

I refuse to respond to your mud slinging Smurv, we both know the truth.

And Manji, unless we're talking something about something like EVO here I doubt you'll run into any of the top 3rd Strike guys. Smurvis is right though, I play SFA3 online and had gotten to the point where I thought I was pretty badass, very few people could beat me. Then I went to a new server and ran into new people playing at a higher frame rate than most people do, I played a few games with them and they all destroyed me with perfect V-combos and infinites.

So yeah, I, who usually wins 90% of the matches I play, Got my ass handed to me by people who were in a completely different league. It wasn't even the same game against them.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

              Woohoo!

              *slings more mud*

But yeah, in all seriousness, Garr's always ripped me a new one in SFA3. I think out of like 15 matches I won maybe 2? But he was using a different character every match, and I stuck with Akuma the whole time. I only beat his M. Bison (damn that was a GREAT match and a heck of a comeback) and I think... R. Mika one time.

              Just don't mention Adon.

              (Edit)
Make that 3... I also beat his Birdie. But those 3 matches I won, were one time deals, as he never used the same char twice except for Adon.
