Even though Nintendo's wiimote is nothing new, just mass produced and put into a new market, the SIXAXIS is nothing but a reactionary move on Sony's part to take the thunder out of Nintendo's sails. Even I will admit that's pretty screwed up.

They could've at least given it to the DualShock2. Sixaxis is as much a step back as it is a step forward. I would've liked the boomerage controller better, at least it tried to look different.

Microsoft had a motion sensing controller for PC years ago that never really caught on. In addition, I've seen Xavix stuff out there for a few years now, a couple years before Nintendo announced what the Wii was.

I give Nintendo as much credit in bringing this technology to the console market as I give Microsoft for taking online console gaming to the next level with X-Box Live.

Tonight at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will give Sony a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for the PS3's Sixaxis controller. Like the Wii remote, the Sixaxis can sense motion, allowing players to control on-screen action by moving the controller.

I think the Wii deserves that award way more than the Sixaxis considering Sony completely ripped the idea of a motion sensor controller from Nintendo.
