CNN: Magus and/or Rodak ate a burrito

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/08/nyc.odor/index.html

New York officials evacuated a number of buildings and shut down some trains after a mysterious gaslike odor was reported Monday.

"One thing we are very confident of, it's not dangerous," Bloomberg said. "How long and what the sources are, we just don't know."

The pervasive odor was reported throughout Manhattan and as far away as Newark, New Jersey, 10 miles west of the Big Apple. In New York, the smell was reported from Midtown to Battery Park City.
    ...and that's why.

    Sewer gas, I bet.

    How does it smell, Magus?

Psh, they don't even have fatalities.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Police shut down 10 blocks of businesses in the heart of downtown early Monday after dozens of birds were found dead in the streets, but officials said preliminary tests showed no dangerous chemicals in the air.
Perhaps the results on what chemicals found in the air should be reported. Sounds like something out of "The Sheep Look Up" by John Brunner...

ALL ON THE SAME DAY, THE GAS UPRISING HAS BEGUN.

Reminds me of the Zombie Survival Guide's warnings about a bunch of benign things happening suddenly. So I totally hope it's zombies.

You could be right. As soon as I read that I had a gas leak of my own.

                  It's just New Jersey.
