So here I am making my RPG in RPGM1 and my friend called me up saying, "Why dont you download the newer one for free (RPGMXP)" and I proceed to explain to him that those kind of sites are why we dont see a stateside release, and he says "so, its not our problem if they dont bring it out here" At this point I just start ignoring, I cant take it when he starts justifying this sort of thing, I have never liked the idea of pirating anything, expecially software that needs as much support as possible.

Re: Annoyed by pirating friend
From what I've seen you can do just as much with Gamemaker. Really the only draw that RM2000 had was the ability to do a CBS and import ripped sprites. The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Re: Annoyed by pirating friend
It was the same with a guy I know in the dorms. He took one look at my DVD collection and came over asking if he could rip them all. I said no, since I'd bought them all legitimately and he should do the same thing. Or he could just hang out and we could watch them together. But I wasn't gonna let him take them all and copy them. He didn't understand and got mad at me.

Maybe I should make a game about people pirating software, they do have pirates in RPGM1 after all.

Re: Annoyed by pirating friend
True, but there are several things left out in the translation patch. We don't need a stateside release, I think. I believe you can buy the game from Japan and get a translation patch.
1) All text in the help menues and the comments in the Ruby script editor are in Japanese (the programming itself in English...er, as close to English as programming code can get, anyway).
2) All text when playing a game (save for the "timer") is in a Japanese font, even if you type in English characters and numbers, which means anybody who owns a computer without support for Japanese text is out of luck without having to script in a bunch of code that'll change all the fonts to something like Arial.
3) All five sample games are untranslated. Even worse, they'd only be translatable for a proffessional, as there are a bunch of Japanese humor in some of the games. Not to mention, some of the text is displayed as a graphic instead of simple text, so translating that would be a bit of a hassle as well as you'd have to make a new graphic.
While I can say that it's still pretty decent if you import it, it would be almost infinately better if Agetec were to give it a stateside release.Actually, that's only half-true. There are still a bunch of options, though less than there should be. That much is simplified. However, with the Ruby script editor included, you can program in a ton of stuff not available by default (stuff like airships, a complex CBS, custom menus, and more subtle stuff like making it so your party members can be seen following you). Of course, anybody who doesn't know the Ruby language is pretty much out of luck (though there are tutorials on the net, I hear). So pretty much, where RPGM1 is for easy stuff and RPGM2 is for more complex stuff, RMXP is for anybody who would like to go either way.meh, I'm not really interested in XP anyhow, from what I hear with the "simple with less options" thing.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 04-07-2005, 04:24 PM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
