I want to like WoW, I really do. I wish it was more interesting though, even with my father powerleveling me (my father and sister play WoW) I can't seem to get the hang of it.

Post your impressions on WoW (World of Warcraft) Or talk about your own character and adventures here.
We need an official WoW Thread.

I don't NEED to be powerleveled, considering I had two other characters before the powerleveled one to 20 (as far as I get before I get sick of it, including the powerleveled one). Just saying everyone knows the only fun part of WoW is at level 60. It's just too much of a drag to get there. Thus why I can't do it.

Caciss

Hah, the funnest time is level 40-50, in my opinion. At 60 it's just raid after raid.

Yawn.

I'm on RP-PVP servers. RP means that you go and act out your characters. For instance you could be a snobbish paladin, or a good hearted paladin, a womanizing rogue, or in my case a Night elf druid who seeks keep nature balanced. The PVP only helps support that role.

Oh course you see alot of cool things on those types of servers. Guilds can run promotion ceremonies for instance. It can be fun but it's not for everyone.

Yeah, I like to RP too, but, to be honest, I can't stand cliche personalities. :|

I play on Ravenholdt, which is an RPPVP server, as an Undead Mage. Just this morning I made it to Level 21.

I've been playing since Christmas.

It is highly addicting, but there are far too many mundane tasks one must accomplish to really take advantage of the game. You have to have help early on or you're going to be micro-managing your inventory because you simply can't hold a lot of things without getting random extra bag drops. Which... surprisingly, I managed to pick up three before leaving the first training area. It made my friend angry, because he didn't have any at all.

Running from place to place is nice, but GOD is it boring. The only thing that keeps me from losing interest from a ten-minute walk is that I use Ventrilo to voice-chat with people in my brother's guild.

Oh, and if anyone cares, I might be on an RP server, but I most certainly am not an RPer.

Omnislash024
01-06-2007, 02:11 PM
....So why roll on one?

Dreamknight
01-06-2007, 02:15 PM
Rick really believes that he is an undead mage. Like in real life.

So it's not RP'ing for him.

Big Rick Cook
01-06-2007, 06:07 PM
Yeah, THAT, or you know... I didn't even realize I was rolling on an RP server until I was already level 6. I joined Ravenholdt because it is what my brother and all my drinking friends are playing on, and yet, none of them RP, either. At least in my presence.

There are very few RPers on the server, as it stands, anyways.

HE IS ROLEPLAYING AS BIG RICK COOK HIMSELF.

The only reason I didn't name myself "Big Rick Cook" is because they were doing a zombie-themed naming scheme, so I rebeled against it and named myself "Bub" for the half-sentient zombie in Day of the Dead.

The Dark Jester

I think omnis the first person ive heard of that rps on an RP server.

Big Rick Cook

I've seen a few roaming the world. Taurens that talk with thees and thines and act all proper and holy. Undead who pretend they're... well, undead. Trolls that like to be jamaican. Orcs that grunt and growl and eat only meat.

It's really sad.

Yeah, that's what usually happens. Usually people don't know what the term even means when they roll on one. RP is far from speaking in accents though. Although it might help, it's not really how you speak but how the character is portrayed.

Luynacie for example is an undead warlock who is well... insane, murderous and seeks power to kill everything. Freesia was a mage who dabbled in the Arcane magic and one day hoped to journey to the Plaguelands to learn her lost brother's fate. Borte, ((someone I grped with)) was a half orc half human female, who learned the ways of a paladin to temper her bloodlust and is afraid of showing her face for fear of being branded an outcast. That sorta thing is the real RP.

And while Blizzard doesn't really enforce RP rules much anymore, ((a shame)), they do exist.

Same thing happened in Undercity, except he was too big to go in so he just stood outside and murdered everyone who tried to leave on foot.

Boy, that's a familiar picture. My brother and I were watching the carnage from about that vantage. Except Kruul was stuck in the entrance to Undercity and couldn't go anywhere. There were also three infernal hounds roaming the area (as evidenced in the picture), plus an infernal wrecking Tirisfal Glades, and another infernal stuck in the Zeppelin Tower.

I teleported to Orgrimmar and laughed heartily.

Basically, I'm on Doomhammer, but was hoping to play with the likes of Jeroak, Marc, Naruto, Goyle, Ivalice, Theif of Dreams, etc. etc... and want to know who's moving and who isn't.

Naruto
01-18-2007, 05:09 PM
Everyone is moving to Trollbane. We just wanted to get away from the 1 hour cues and crowdedness of Doomhammer. We are on the Alliance. (>_>) We are nice. Soulzero (2Xtreme), Thief of Dreams, Jeroak, Marc, and me are or were in the guild in Doomhammer. You can't make new characters in Trollbane until the 19th (I guess) so you would have to make characters on Doomhammer, Elune, or Elde'Thalas (sp) and move them over right now.

Vanilla Iced Tea

Hey Rick, I'm on VeCo, alliance side if you ever want to group up. 51 NE Druid-Shelinda.

Also made a new BE named Desdamona on Ravenholdt. I like the Elf starting area, you level fast with all those quests.

Big Rick Cook
01-23-2007, 10:51 PM
Hm. I'll find you on Ravenholdt someday. I'm thinking of deserting my character on Venture Co. Alliance just seems to be... dumb, all around.

I'll probably roll a new character on Cho'Gall because a group of my friends in Ohio play there, and they're bugging me to play with them.

The alliance on VeCo are kinda stuck up. Actually, on VeCo, its more like 3 factions. Horde, Alliance and Order of the Ancients. The guild is alliance, but they create alot of controversy. Main prob with Veco is that there are 3 rather large end game guilds. Guild wise, there aren't many appealing ones.

Anyway.... BE Mage for me. But I'm still gonna play my druid cause I want Bird Form.

My 600 MHz, 320 MB RAM computer can run WoW, with the slightest amount of lag on the lowest settings.

... I can't believe I didn't test it sooner. It was well below the requirements (800 MHz and 512 MB RAM) but it still works.

I am LOVING WoW. The first weekend I went from 14-22, 22-25 during the first week, 25-30 during the second weekend, then 30-32 during the third week. Now my goal is at LEAST 35 by Sunday night. Wish me luck!

The guy with the bats is hard. A 33 Pally went with my 20 Pally to get the stuff for my Verigan's Fist. While we were there, some rare monster was up that drops Phantom Armor, which was good for my level. We had to get past the guy with the bats, and we both died because of some screw-up. We had killed the guy, but not the bats, and had to come back to finish them off.

Long story short, we spent an hour to get to a monster that didn't drop it. :(

BUT!

Last night I did part of Gnomeregan. My 33 Mage roommate went with my 31 Pally in the back-entrance of Gnomer. We had to fight our way up to the Crowd Pummler C-60 or whatever. We killed him and he dropped the Manual Crowd Pummler! Woot! It's an awesome two-handed mace for my level, more DPS than Verigan's Fist and it has a speed of 2.00... the fastest two-handed mace in the game (or so I was told). We had like 5-6 level 30-32 monsters on us at any time (some Elite) but still managed to work our way to the boss, through some act of God. Things were giving us 250-444 rested exp per kill because it was just us two.

This game is just awesome. Way more fun than FFXI.

Due to the fact that A: I miss my friends and B: I've been told that druids are now able to fly at Level 68, I will be returning to WoW shortly.

Aw, thanks, Mavie. I look forward to seeing you too! How long has it been, anyway?

It's still going to be a little while - I'm starting again this evening, but I won't have the expansion for a bit yet and it's going to take some time until the paid transfer goes through (free transfer isn't open anymore, and I don't really want to be on Downhammer any longer, so I don't mind paying), but after that I'll be ready to rumble.

Until then, you can still find me on the original server if any of your alts are still kicking around. :)

But divided by a year and half that's like 66 cents a day. A lot better than spending $60 on the average game that you finish within a week.

usually people don't buy $60 games, they usually wait untill the price is $30-20. Then they don't buy another game for a month.

Or if you are like me you buy alot of cheap games one month and don't buy a single game for half a year.
