I can't stand the fact that the character models have completely different proportions on the world map, battle scenarios, and video sequences. What the hell? Why didn't they attempt more human porportions like they did in Final Fantasy VIII?
the materia is one of the reasons I don't like the game. aside from what type of weapon the character holds and their (rather unneccesary) limit breaks, there are no differences between the entire cast in battle.

That's cool and I totally respect that. For me - I liked that. It gave me the ability to mix and match who I wanted to use based on which CHARACTERS I LIKED instead of which were most effective in battle. Instead of the game forcing me to use the most "powerful" characters - I was free to use whomever I was digging at the time.
Yeah I'm with Highwind. I liked using whoever I pleased and I also loved the amount of charm and FUN FFVII had. I played through it like last year and it was still as good as it was back in the day.
I think it's interesting how a few people here like the way FFVII made characters generic, but never speak up when people bring up that aspect of FFVIII as a negative. :P
