Uh... I haven't looked at one in a while, are you talking about the memory card slot?

The gamecube games are really alive and need air to breath.

To tell the truth, I have no idea. I never thought about it before. Yeah, what the heck are those for? I did a search and all I came up with was that you can buy a fantastic 4 gamecube game case on ebay.

Maybe you can put some kinda lock on them.

If you are talking about the inside, then it is the memory card holder. Incase you wanted to keep a card for just that game, or take it along with the game to a friend's house.

no, the hole in the case itself. on the bottom on the side that opens.

You people actually think I'm so stupid that I'd ask what the slot marked "memory card storage" is for?

Or maybe he's talking about the one that's for those slide things Blockbuster uses to make sure you don't steal discs in the store.

so they put the holes in the cases for just one rental chain to use?

I think SHFC is right. I happen to have a GC case because for some reason Babbage's put this copy of Xenosaga in one *shrug* and there's these square brackets inside that seem to form sort of a sheath for something to be inserted. And the same thing is on a couple Blockbuster cases I have. WHY Nintendo used that type of case for the GameCube is still unanswered though.

Oh, hmmm...that would be strange. Maybe it was to fit on a Nintendo brand rack but they scrape the idea, but kept the hole?

Or maybe that is where the Gamecube makes love to the case.....?

What Blockbuster's got no clout in the rental industry? And it's not like all chains can't use them. Or maybe it's for when they're in stores as well.

none of the 15 or so gamecube games I've bought from stores have ever had them in anything but shrinkwrap.

We must rebel before blockbuster takes over the world.

*holds his hollywood video card up with about 2 other people and says "Powers unite." Wierd movie looking guy comes and says "With your powers combined, I am Hollywood Guy." And so on.

I think they put the hole there so we would have something to entertain ourselves with after we buy the game, because you're usually done with the game itself in a few hours, then you spend another 60-70 hours wondering what the hell the hole is for.

I got tons of gamecube games, they sit right next to my PS2 games. I never gave it much thought though. It could be that in Japan more stores use that kind of security. :shrug

Or it could be that Nintendo wanted to be different, so you can tell the difference between GCN games and other games next to eachother. The Lighter grey and the hole make it look different than the darker black of PS2 games and X-Box games.

It's probably an assembly line bit.

I'm tempted to call Customer Service and ask them what the deal is.

Speaking of which, the Wii cases apparently lack them.
