Good Place To Buy A Laptop?

I'm buying my wife a late-christmas-present laptop, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to buy one, online or department stores will work, she just wants one because she's getting into real estate and needs somewhere portable to keep her records, so a low-end system will work just fine, as long as it isn't below...say...1.4gHz and 256mb ram, all the places I've checked department store wise only has 2.0ghz and up, and I don't need something that powerful and expensive, as I have 2 kids that eats up a lot of my paycheck

I'm not too keen with newegg.com as they've sold me defective equipment before and refused to take it back.

    Any help would be appreciated

Don't buy a Apple unless you know what your doing. I wouldn't recommend a Mac to anyone who currently uses a PC and is hoping for a quick, easy switchover.

I'm not too big on macs anyways, so I dont think I'll be switching to that, plus the cheapest new one I saw on that site was $1,099 and the cheapest refurbished one was $1,299.

I found a laptop for $489 new but it was a 1.2ghz with 128mb ram, much to little for what I want, I'm looking at possibly $600-$700 range, unlikely I'll find what I want, but it's all I can afford, thats why I set my standards so low

I got my Laptop at Best Buy for $800.

It's a Gateway with a Dual Core AMD(Turion64) 1.6Ghz processor with 1 gig of RAM and 256 MB Video RAM with Windows XP Media Center Edition.
The Hard Drive is also 100 GB.

Wow that sounds like a good deal, far above what I'm looking for and only $100 more, maybe I can work on that if a better deal doesn't come along
