It's for my 2D design class (blegh). We're supposed to make a board game based on super heroes, without using a computer. So far, from what I've thought up, the object of the game is to defeat the villian before his doomsday device goes off (set number of turns). You start out as a normal guy or girl, and must make your way through the city (game board) in any direction rolling a 6 sided dice. There are certain areas on the board where you can pick up a random super power.
Every turn you have to draw a Calamnity card, which is basically an event such as "Help the old lady!" or "You fell in radioactive tar! Gain/Lose a power!" or even "Your rival wants to kill you!" Things like that. Players can choose to go solo or team up on these Calamnity cards (a la Munchkin). For each calamnity card you complete, you gain fame coins. If you aren't able to complete it, then nothing bad happens, you just don't gain any fame. If people help you, you split the fame coins. The hero with the most fame in the end wins the game.
The villain's base is set on the other side of the board. The entrances to his base are surrounded by random traps. The only way to get through these traps is by having certain abilities. Like say the trap is Surveilance Guns. You'd have to have either invisibility or super speed to get past them. If you can get past the random trap, you can attack the villian head on. He has a certain static amount of HP. If you don't defeat him in that one attack, (overpower him with more attack points than his HP), the doomsday device is delayed several turns and you're thrown back to where you started. This is where teaming up comes in handy. Not only can a team of super heroes dodge the traps more easily, since everyone has unique powers, but they can also overpower the villian on the first try.
It's still in design phase though. It's due a week from today (Wednesday).
What I need from you guys are ideas for super powers for players to be able to acquire, other than the necessary Super Speed, Flight, Strength, Telepathy, Force Field, etc. Be creative.
