Well, I finally got a hold of Shadow of Colossus. It is a pretty interesting game. When I got the game I knew these guys were going to be big, but DAMN! I'm enjoying it so far. My only gripe is, you don't fight any of those shadow creatures like in Ico.... that and the story. I have killed 5 collossi and nothing has furthered the plot. Okay, so this guy's lover is dead, the game gives me no reason to care about her. Its rather touching he is willing to go through all of that to bring her back, but I know nothing about her. So all she really happens to be is just another corpse. The game is in the shadow of Ico as far as I am concerned. Keep in mind that is one nice shadow. The game is still good and definitely worth getting.

The game is lovely. I've had my copy for a while, when I bought it for $50. I like reliving the Colossi fights over and over again--they're so cinematic.
The musical score accentuates the action quite nicely, too.
EDIT: Jamos, the story gets a lot better when you kill more Colossi. Continue playing for a bit--there's a shocking revelation at the end of the game.Last edited by Misty; 12-27-2006, 02:41 PM.

Yeah SoTC is one of my all time favorite games for not just innovation but the feel of the game. I loved how each fight seemed to mean something and feel as though it was part of a movie. Yeah the game gets better story wise as it goes on, and some of the later colossi are my favorite.

There is an excellent story underneath the Colossi hunting. The player needs time to fully unravel it. There are people who like to play games because there's a story or a plot involved.Originally posted by Loki View PostThe story deosn't "get better." And there is little in the way of plot until the end of the game. But you're looking at it the worng way. The game isn't about plot. Just keep playing and you'll see what I mean.
You may not think the story gets better, but I certainly do. The twist at the end was a real shocker.
You won't be disappointed, Jamos.Last edited by Goemon; 12-27-2006, 03:45 PM.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

Re: Them colossi sure are colossal.
The soundtrack to the game is indeed epic. Makes the colossus fights even bigger than they are. And they are pretty damn big to begin with. I am rather enjoying the game, I like how imaginative the game is. I have seen the whole giant monster thing done a thousand times, but not quite like this game. These monsters aren't just huge, they look very original. Plus, each one has a different strategy you need to use to take these things down.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Re: Them colossi sure are colossal.
You can tell the Zelda guys played this.
Actually there isn't really that much of a story, and what there is is really only hinted at and it never actually tells you stuff. But Loki's right, if you need a story to enjoy this game then you should return yourself for store credit.Last edited by IRC; 12-27-2006, 05:35 PM.The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.
