    Returning Gifts....

Happy after-Christmas, guys....actually, this is the day that I hate the most. Every year I do it....return gifts.

So how many of you have had to return gifts that you thought someone would like--only to find out they don't? Or finding out that they got that gift already from someone else?

Case in point--I got my best friend a DS this year with two games--Final Fantasy III and Big Brain Academy. I later discovered that her older brother had gotten her a Black DS (I got her the White one)....and she liked the Black DS better. Don't blame her. She took the two games, but I took back the White DS. I already have one, so I'm returning it tonight.

This year, I'm returning two gifts. It isn't too bad--compared to last year when I had to return about six. At the very least six out of eight people liked and/or appreciated the gifts I got for them. Three of them being gift cards.

Overall--I'm a little sad Christmas is already come and gone, but relieved that my Christmas shopping is over.

You guys ever had experiences like mine?

I might start getting people gifts they don't want on purpose. That way you get credit for getting them a present but you can still get your money back. Of course, that doesn't work if they decide to return it themselves.

I got my stepfather a Munich DVD. He has a very limited DVD collection, and most of it is comprised of old war films, and various Peter Sellers stuff. But when I saw Munich I thought rightaway that he would like it.

Turned out it was one of the few new films he actually bought. But in a way I'm happy that I was right in thinking he'd definitely like it.

My uncle got me Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne, but I already got it a long time ago. So, uh, I dunno what I'm gonna do with it.

I was surprised to find that my dad did not want to return the copy of the Kuran I gave him.

I just get my familly whatever they asked for and my friends candy. It's foolproof.

I don't like the whole gift card craze that seems to be sweeping through the States as of late. It seems so... impersonal.

I know, but this year, I just got lazy. Besides, I got sick of everybody complaining about the gifts I've been getting for them.

At least I got them personalized Hallmark cards to go with those Gift Cards -- the ones that electronically play "Jingle Bells" and say ....

"Merry Christmas, my dear friend....because I love you with all my heart and soul."

I disliked most of my presents this year so I returned a bunch of them. My mom got me Spiderman the game. I returned it and got Shadow of the Colossus, now that is much better.

What the hell is wrong with you people? You don't get to take the gift back just cause the person you gave it to doesn't like it. If your friend got a another DS then she gets to return the one you gave her.

                    Shame on you.

I agree with Cow, it's almost unfair that they miss out on the present. Maybe you should let her return it or at least get something she would want. Keeping the money from it is kinda..selfish.

I got some ****ty clothes from my uncle, but I pretended to think they were okay. I'm not even going to return them, I'll just give them to someone else or Goodwill.

for some members of my family, a gift card is usually the best and safest option. especially those Visa gift cards if they like to order things online. Although it's nice to get an actual gift from someone, i myself find a lot of enjoyment from free money. Just today with my Bestbuy gift cards I went out and bought a 4GB memory stick duo, and Power Stone Collection. All I ended up paying was the remaining $33.

My mom got Dave some nice pants that didn't fit and some winter shirts that did. The pants fit me, so I kept them. They're very comfortable. In exchange, I gave him my old pair of baggy brown corduroy pants.
