Devil May Cry Anniversary Box Set (All 3 DMCs!)

Even though the Wii is gouging a lot of my attention these days, I did spend some time today picking up a little something for my dust-gathering PS2.

A certain boxed set featuring the three major DMCs in one $30 package.

I used to own the DMC3 Special Edition until I let one of my friends borrow it for a while. Without my permission, she let someone else borrow it. I never saw it again Soooo, I thought maybe instead of just getting a new DMC3 Special Edition, I'd go ahead and get the boxed set. And I also HAD to get a viable replacement for the first game, too, because certain members of my family "carpet-surfed" the disc all around my house when they were visiting.

I recall starting a thread many months ago about my friend complaining about the DMC3 Special Edition being released under the Greatest Hits label. You guys remember him? Well, he threw a fit when I told him I bought the $30 boxed set with all three of the DMCs--which INCLUDES the Special Edition. "How was I supposed to know ALL THREE DMCs (including the SECOND ONE!) were gonna do so well?" he cried. I told him "DUH! It's Devil May Cry! They eat that up like they do Final Fantasy--you know that!"

DMC1 is fiendishly fun. I did play the second game--it's all right....not as bad as people think. DMC3 SE....arguably the best of the trilogy--and plus you can play as Vergil. DMC4....well, I have to get a PS3 to get that.

Well, as far as it goes, DMC3 is my favorite. What's your favorite?

Friends are bad. DON'T HAVE FRIENDS.

OH, I only played DMC1. It was okay, until that r-tarded final stage where the game suddenly shifts genres and becomes a shooter. Onimusha 2 did that too but I think that was a more successful, if just as silly, transition.

I've only played the 3SE. Only got up til just after the Cerberus fight. Didn't feel like finding my way around in that tower. I'm not really into it. I had the same problems with it that I have with pretty every action game except God of War. I liked the cutscenes more than the gameplay.

Sounds like something Sam's would sell.

Speaking of which, they seriously need a cage or electrified fence around their video games.

I'm tired of having to reorganize those ****s everynight.

my favorite is the first. didnt really play the 2nd so much, wasn't interested. seemed like more of the same, but not as good. i've only played a demo of 3, and while it was solid dmc gameplay, i'm still partial to the original. a boxset is a cool thing to have though. for $30? definitely worth it.

3 is my all time favorite. Got to love Lady and Dante's fight scenes.

I saw the box set a while back. When I first saw it I thought, that it might have been a revamped version of the first one. I was obviously very wrong. I already had DMC and DMC3 SE so I didn't need the box set. DMC2 doesn't really exist, anyway. As for my favorite, I would have to go with DMC3... though it is a tough choice because I loved DMC as well. Funny thing is that it probably went in my favor to have played 3 before 1 (3 is its prequel after all.) Both fun games.

I hear the order of the games are off-kilter in a sense. Let me get this straight.... first was DMC3....then DMC1....then DMC2.....and supposedly DMC4 lies between DMC1 and DMC2?

I liked the cutscenes more than the gameplay.

My all-time favorite cutscene in DMC3 is the opening scene where Dante's trying to eat his pizza--but gets into that bad-ass fight with those scythe-wielding reapers. It doesn't get any better than that.

My favorite cutscene was the one at the start of Mission 8. You know, where Dante jumps down the tower.

I didn't get very far into the game so that's the main one I liked too. That and the cutscene introducing Lady. As ridiculous as Dante surfing on a missile was, it was still pretty funny.
