Apocalypto. Or a ton of mayans dying terrible deaths for 2 hours.

Wow. Jesus Christ. Has anyone else seen this yet? I'm not even sure if it was good or bad, I was just so amazed by what I was seeing on the screen. A baby gets thrown within the first 20 minutes and then it's all a downward spiral into some of the most violent things I've ever seen on film.

    Highlights:

Jaguar eating a mans face and then being killed while face is still in mouth.

Multiple hearts being ripped out of chests.

More skulls being bashed in than I can remember.

Beheaded body being thrown down the steps of a pyramid.

... I'm actually afraid of Mel Gibson now.

"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

Ok, so besides the blood and gore and baby tossing competitions, is the movie any good?

I DON'T KNOW. The story was simple really, but it was beautifully shot. It had a great "being there" feel.

I'd have to watch it again to really say if it was good, I was totally unprepared for it's INTENSITY.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention when they let fire ants bite onto a wound and then rip the body off to create makeshift stitches. GAWD.

so it's basically the Passion without the Christ.

You've now piqued my interest. I must see this.

I always wanted to see a big budget movie set during the ancient aztec period, but I asumed it would be extremely voilent for it to be accurate and therefore good.
            ....
I don't know, now I might go see it.

Thank you for this Garr. I am sure I would never see this anyways, but now I REALLY don't want to see it.

Now I really want to see it. I just recently watched Braveheart, so right now Mel Gibson seems like a good director, regardless of moral views and temper and such...

I liked it. It has a simple story but it tells it well. The entire thing is just done well. Really the only bad thing is that Mel Gibson made it.

But I went in expecting not to like it but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. It's not the best movie of the year but it's still a good flick.

And I don't think it's quite as violent as Garr makes it out to be. Yeah all that stuff happens but it's not rediculously over the top.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I thought it was a little average. The story was so, so basic.

Braveheart is really good. I just can't enjoy the Passion of the Christ. I'm just so not about... that. I really want to see Apocalypto but I have trouble finding people to see movies like that with me these days.
