    Front Mission 4

Anyone played this? I love it myself. Though I don't think I'm that far. I can't find the spoiler tag so.

    SPOILER

I'm just rushing into the polish territory and fighting the Blaur Nebel for what seems to be the last time.

    END SPOILER

I like the game myself, though I miss the hacking system of Front Mission 3. =\ What are your thoughts on the game?

Ive got 48 hours in on my game. Im at the point where missions can literally take 2-3 hours to finish now.

Every now and then I play it for about 20min before I get sick of it again.

          FM3's hacking system was obtuse.

My cousin got it about a week back. The biggest draw was that it combined his three favorite things: mechs, turn-based, and strategy. Or maybe turn-based strategy was one thing and I forgot the third. Anyway, I watched him go through the first four battles, and it did look fun. We couldn't help but chuckle when we saw the "lip-synching" in this game. Most of the text scenes are kinda boring, though. But that's because that's what they are. Text scenes with a background. Not even a still-frame showing the characters that are talking. Also pretty odd how there's mostly only voice acting in the mech scenes. Anyway, the gameplay seems pretty good. Even though I wasn't playing, I couldn't help but cheer from time to time when an opponent (or even a piece of an opponent sometimes) was defeated. Now if only there were a 2-player mode.

It took a nosedive from insanely easy to insanely hard in one freaking battle.

It looks like a game that I would enjoy, I really wanted 3 but never got around to it.

On a range of 1-10 Chuck ******es, how much is this game like FF Tatics, with 10 being the most like it.

It reminded me very much of FFT, except with mechs, choppers, and tanks, and different types of weaponry (shoulder mounts, hand guns or fist-fighting, backpack for healing or for holding items). And cool camera angles for about every attack.

I'd say maybe 6, it takes elements from that, but when you attack you can destroy certain parts of people. Like if your opponent has a rifle and is right handed, try aiming for his right hand and attack it only, he won't be able to attack you anymore unless he has rocket attached to his back. It really is an awesome game. But yeah, in one battle it went from super easy to owe.

And if you destroy an arm, that arm's weapons are completely useless, or so I thought.
If you have a Right Bazooka and a Right Machine Gun, and your right arm gets blown to smithereens, you can't use either one. A highly debilitating move. And so far, the enemy doesn't know what healing is, so all you need to do is learn the sniping moves for your sniper type mechs. Snipe whichever arm is going to kill you fastest and you're way more likely to hit that part.

Funny, I don't remember seeing an option to choose what part of the mech is hit. It was always random for us.

There are sniper techniques you can buy or learn that target specific parts.

I just focus all my attacks on their middle core thing. Take that out and they die.

But in the process limbs usually get blown off anyway.

I usually focus my attacks on the body when there are weapons on both arms, because taking out just one arm doesn't do much good. But if they've got 1 arm with crazy insane weapons, I take them out first because those parts die fastest, and then I concentrate on killing other enemies around them, as they aren't a problem with no weapons.
