About six months ago my doctor grew concerned about dark circular patches that were forming on my neck and shoulder and referred me to see a dermatologist.
The patches are kinda leathery, but don't hurt or anything. But since my doctor didn't know what they were, it kinda worried me as well.
Well this morning I finally went to my dermatologist appointment. He took one look at my neck and immediately identified it:
"You got a little fungal growth there. No problem."
I asked, "Do you know what may've caused it?"
"It's a common condition, caused by bacteria on everyone's skin. They just seem to really like you. Sometimes they'll concentrate if the area's clammy for long periods. Know anything that might’ve done that?"
I lied, I said I didn't. But I know well what's to blame: The hours upon hours I spent in the same odd position playing FFXI, with my neck propped on my shoulder. It was comfortable but still allowed me to type.
So I'd like to extend a final thanks to FFXI as I go to the pharmacy to pick up perscription fungicide.
